When Mjällby is chasing a spot in the Champions League and heading to Slovakia next week, it seems like they will be without their star player Elliot Stroud.

Already for this weekend's match against Elfsborg, he could potentially be lost to the club. In Sportbladet's broadcast after the first qualifying match against Slovan Bratislava, Stroud confirms that it might well be his last game here.

– We'll have to see what happens. You never know in football, but it seems like this was my last game here, says he.

Stroud has long been linked with Hull City, a new club in the Premier League. The Turkish owner and chairman Acun Ilıcalı even published an unusually detailed post stating that a Swede is 90% certain to join. In the mix, Stroud confirms it's Hull where he's heading.

– No, I can't confirm that, but we'll see, he says with a big smile.

What’s Missing Besides Your Signature?

– That too. But most things are agreed upon. It’s just formalities left.

“Been A Little Anxious”

Midway through all the rumors about international interest, Stroud has still been playing matches for Mjällby.

– It's clear that you've been a little anxious and maybe not 100% focused on 50/50 duels. Since then, it’s not much you think when you're out there. Then you just try to focus on here and now and take what comes. says Stroud.

He has still wanted to play the matches. – Yes, that was always given. It's been a bit tough to keep focused, but I've just tried to do my best on the pitch. The three and a half years I’ve been here have been the best in my football career. It feels like playing with your best friends and winning an Allsvenskan title, a cup, and qualifying for Europe. Something that not many footballers get to experience in Sweden. It feels like we've won a gold medal together.
